Bedroom Update: New Lighting, Bedding, and Finishing Touches!

Happy New Year, everyone! Let’s catch up for a minute! I started the year off the way I always do after the holidays… completely immersed in some sort of organizational frenzy. This year our basement was the lucky spot. I tell you what, folks. When you’re an interior design blogger who changes things around the house often, things pile up in the basement. Along with twenty years worth of toys and clothes to be donated. It was a beast to tackle, but I’m happy to report it’s walkable and “hang out-able” again! A true Christmas miracle!

Next up… our primary bedroom. One way I always love starting off the new year is to find ways to freshen up the bedroom for the upcoming spring season- especially this year. We desperately miss traveling, so now more than ever, I was craving the look of a charming European Bed & Breakfast. A few things came into play to achieve this look. Can’t wait to show you! Let’s get to it!

New lighting…

Let’s start with the gorgeous Troy Lighting Cate chandelier, from Hudson Valley Lighting. It’s a classic, traditional candelabra, and I wanted something like this to balance out the modern, sleek brass canopy bed. Other new lighting? These fun new lamps! The base is from Home Depot, and the shades are from Ballard Designs. The shades were a bit of a splurge, but I really loved the texture and warmth of the rattan.

New bedding…

A great way to turn down the glam in here and turn up the cozy, was adding fresh layers of pattern and color to the bed. I loved the checked duvet paired with the floral quilt! And I couldn’t resist the copper velvet shams!

New furniture pieces…

There are some major new staples that are amping up the warmth in here! The first is this woven leather Henry bench at the foot of the bed from Arhaus. The wood tone is so beautiful in here, and I love that the suede side faces up!

The next is the new distressed green Merrit cabinet also from Arhaus

I had so much fun styling this!

You’d never guess where all of these pieces are from! Home Depot! That’s right… Home Depot has quite the selection of decorative home items online! I’m linking them all below…

Shop the room…

One thing that’s on the list for this room is paint. We’ve actually always enjoyed a dark bedroom- so that isn’t changing, but the tone is. This charcoal reads too cool ever since getting the new bed in here. The headboard reads more brown, so I’ll be choosing a color similar to what we have, but a little more on the brown side. Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Haneen

I’ve seen gorgeous quilts on Anthropologie or from Amber Lewis’s shop, but sadly they’re much more expensive!
