Welcome to my 2017 Spring Home Tour! If you’re new here, my name is Haneen- 38 year old mom of four with an art degree, pouring creative energy into my home. Happy to report my 7 year old took the photo of me above, and afterwards proclaimed she wants to be a photographer. That’s what I studied in college, so that made my heart smile. I think she got a big kick out of the “click, click, click” sounds coming from the “fancy” camera:)
So, if you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been in the process of giving my living room and bedroom a refresh of sorts. So excited to share both with you today! Let’s start with the living room. This room used to have a bit of a global vibe. I love how my style has evolved over time, and I wanted to give this look a bit of a midcentury modern flair. Here it is BEFORE…
And here it is AFTER…
Ah! I can’t stop staring! These bursts of color make me so happy! That large scale art from Minted completely makes the space. I wanted an abstract piece with a pop of pink, and this definitely fit the bill. The green geometric piece is also from Minted. Their selection is outstanding and their framing is high quality. I chose a white frame for the large piece, and brass for the smaller one- just to mix it up:) Another jolt of color that makes a big impact? This beautiful rug from Rugs USA…
I’ve chatted a bit on Instagram (you can follow me on there HERE) about how I wanted to spice up this room without painting it. I painted the wall stencil a few years ago, and while brown isn’t necessarily a current fave, that job was a labor of love, so I have no plans to paint over it. So my first mission was to find a rug that helped incorporate the brown, while introducing fresh colors that made me happy and changed the feel of the space. This rug is beautiful!
Now let’s get to some of my other favorite new things in this room, and from Home Goods! Shall we start with the chairs??
They’re just so sexy! Totally taming the “cute” pastels I have going on in here. Those brass legs give me all the feels.
When looking for a side table to go between them, I knew I needed something that didn’t necessarily have legs because they’d just compete with the base of the chairs. This acrylic table was perfect, especially since it gave me the opportunity to add more color and some thrifted goodies. Nothing like old books to add character to a space…
Hunted down some pink and green books at local thrifts shops- the majority of them were 10 cents each. Score! And such a pretty touch.
By the way, that gorgeous handblown original green vase above the books is a treasured piece of mine. It’s by an artist named Mark Wagar, and my husband and I split it when we were dating in college. I worked at an art gallery where I’d admired it forever, and when the artist took it from the store to try and sell it at a local art fair, I was bummed. So when hubs and I were walking the fair and found it, we snatched it up. Which says a lot seeing as how we weren’t even engaged at the time! And it was a LOT for two college kids to spend money on. A sweet, romantic gesture on my husband’s part. It was almost as if it’s waited years for this particular room to shine in:)
The other big piece from Home Goods that I’m in love with is the console table! What a stunner. Since I wanted more of a midcentury modern vibe in here, this was perfect. I love the lines of it and the gold detail.
While we’re staring at that shot, let’s talk about the new coffee table! There’s a lot of color going on in here, so I wanted something light, bright, and neutral. This piece from Lex Mod is perfect. It’s super heavy- I love the quality of it. And the perfect backdrop for some fun decorative pieces…
The large gold geometric piece is from Home Goods, and I just slipped some bottles inside of it for tulip stems:) Tulips are my favorite site to see, come spring.
I love this pitcher/vase from Ikea!
Let’s talk about this new mirror! It recently replaced a mirror that was cracked. I wasn’t that upset about the other mirror breaking (don’t ask how it happened because I have no idea! I have four kids, we’ll just leave it at that). But I say that because it was definitely Moroccan in shape, and since I was trying go less global in here, this gave me an opportunity to find a mirror that was a little more fun and modern. I was in love with this mirror when I found it online at Urban Outfitters, but sadly it was out of stock. Michael from Inspired By Charm to the rescue! My sweet friend messaged to let me know that he had the mirror I wanted, and he was happy to pass it on. Whattt?? Who does that? Michael does! And I’m grateful! It’s the perfect scale and I love the funk it brings to the gallery wall.
Can we talk about this plant? I’m typically super anti-fake plants, but I was digging this one from Home Goods and needed something to fill this corner. Turns out, I don’t hate fake plants after all. Adds a little flair:)
Two things still on the “to-do” list. One, I haven’t found replacement drapes. I know I’m going to keep it simple, just didn’t find the perfect ones in time for this tour. No biggie! I’ll be sure to post when I do;) And two, I’d like new lamps. The faux concrete ones are working just fine for now, but I’ve been on the hunt for lamps with a little more modern flair. Just haven’t found the perfect ones yet. Stay tuned!
Random closeup of one of these candlesticks. Got them forever ago from Pier One and I still love them.
Ok, ok. I suppose I’ll move on. I took so many shots of this space, it was hard to narrow them down! And then of course, my little assistant liked to hop in front of the camera. Lol…
He thinks he’s hilarious:) Moving on to the master bedroom!
I’ve loved the monochromatic, classic vibe of my bedroom, but this spring, I’m crushing on blush pink, and couldn’t resist adding it in here. I fell in love with this floral pillow, and more abstract art from Minted pulled the colors from it beautifully. Still on the to-do list? I’d like to get a bench for the foot of the bed, and I’m still on a hunt for a fab chandelier!
Thank you so much for visiting today! It’s 2am and this mama’s eyes are getting heavy! Time to head over to Summer’s blog next over at Simple Stylings, and catch the amazing full list below!
