Folks, I did a little underestimating over here. You’d think six weeks is a long time to redecorate one room, especially when there aren’t a lot of (or any) renovations; no big demolitions. I was a little overly confident in the beginning. I knew what I wanted in my head and thought, heck, all I need to do is paint the room and order everything and it’s done! Well, the One Room Challenge reveal is in 3 weeks, and not a whole lot is done over here. Lol! To read the initial plans for this room, click HERE. I reached a tough spot with the two chairs going on the reclaimed wood wall. I’m having a hard time choosing them! And it’s reaching a point where, unless I find something sitting there in a store, whatever I get won’t get here on time because I’m waiting too long and delivery estimates aren’t looking too good right now.
I think I’m having a hard time because my initial thought was to keep all major pieces neutral, and then throw a big, magical “ka-bam!” of color in through accents and pillows. But I’ve come across a few special chairs that make my heart go pitter patter and it has me questioning my plan and creating this zombie-like state of just sitting and staring at my computer screen into the late hours of the night. It’s almost like the checkout carts are taunting me….
“Why can’t you just submit the order?”
“How many times are you gonna search Target, Joss & Main, Wayfair, Dot & Bo, World Market, Overstock, etc etc etc?”
“Velvet? You’re obsessing over the idea of velvet now?”
“What are you doing??! You said neutral! Why are you looking at emerald green?”
“That chair’s shape is mid-century modern. I’m seeing drool coming out of your mouth. Oh, but wait, of course it’s too expensive!”
“Did you see? It has gold legs! Get the one with gold legs!”
Then there’s the chair murder scene I have going on in here…
Kidding, no murder scene, just two imaginary chairs sitting side by side, and me behind the camera going, “Uhhhhh, why is that such a tight fit??!”
I was hoping to fit a small table between two chairs, but I’m realizing now there won’t be room. Unless I find teeny tiny chairs. And I don’t want tiny chairs. I want my husband to fit in them comfortably. He doesn’t want “dainty” chairs, and neither do I. I’d love chairs with arms so you can actually curl up into them. Initially I was looking at this chair from Lex Mod…
I question getting a grey chair though since I’m getting a grey sectional. The sectional is much lighter…
Not so sure about that match up. I did find a similar one from Ikea in a much darker grey, so it looks a little better. Plus it’s slightly slimmer by a few inches. But I don’t love that the legs are chrome. Perhaps I can paint them?
And then I found this chair from World Market…
I just adore the velvet. I question it because of the color. I wasn’t planning on doing buy cheap clonazepam online blue in this room. I was looking at green accents. Sadly, this doesn’t come in green! So I started googling green velvet chairs, and found this from Target…
I like it, I just love the shape of the other one better. I liked the modern lines of the square chair. And I love the tufting. This chair shape is just “ok.” Also, the description says emerald green, but it looks a little more like hunter green to me? Although I do have that similar green on the buffet in the dining room so maybe it’d be awesome? Wondering how versatile it is. Which makes me question going neutral all over again.
I liked this chair from World Market too…
It says it’s midnight blue, but it looks super dark charcoal to me, which I like. It just wasn’t mega comfortable:( This decision is waaaay harder than I thought! Good news is, I found an amazing artist to collab with and I’m super excited to incorporate a version of this on the reclaimed wood wall…
I mean, talk about Boho Chic! Love it!!! And poor Lauren is just patiently waiting for me to tell her the colors I officially want. I’m thinking of it just bleeding shades of green. But I’m questioning adding some blue like in that photo, since I’m thinking about that blue velvet chair. Or this velvet chair…
I mean, how amazing is that blue? And look at the legs! But I do this with every makeover. I start neutral and then think, “But, but but…” because I start finding all of these beautiful items with COLOR and question everything. But this would look pretty righteous from the front door since you can also see the dining room when you walk in, and the dining room has this beautiful blue rug…
Here’s the view of looking into the family room from the foyer. If I go with the lighter/denim blue velvet chairs, I question how they’ll look with the blue chairs you can see in the office. They’re not the same shade of blue.
See? So much to think about it! There are bigger problems in the world, I know. This is what I call “fun stress,” but while I’m not an official participant in the One Room Challenge, it’d sure be nice to finish on time and reveal my room alongside everyone else! We shall see. One more piece of good news and check off on the “to do” list, is that I decided on these sconces as oppose to the original ones I had picked out…
I love the juxtaposition of its modern style on the rustic wall. And instead of the Painted Fox sconces, I found this fab Painted Fox mirror. I won a gift card from them a while back on Instagram, so I was excited to put it towards something for this makeover! I’ve been looking for this style mirror! So glad I found it!
And there you have it, folks! My scrambled thoughts all on one page! What do you think? Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
Haneen
