Summer is finally showing up in Michigan! It felt like Spring rain was never going to subside! So happy to have you and show you’ve how I’ve spruced things up around here for the new season. Thank you to Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for hosting this blog hop. If you’re coming from Hymns & Verses, welcome!
I used to plant flowers along the front of our bushes, but the last year or two I’ve kept it simple by just filling the front pots. Petunias are my go-to!
So, come on in! My foyer is in the middle of a makeover, so I can’t quite show you it in full. But here’s a little sneak peak of the paint project I just finished!
More on that in a later post! The feature wall is done, but the stairs still need to be painted and the two story walls too!
The easiest way to style your home for summer is to bring in fresh flowers. I was excited to find these peonies!
Heads up: these peonies will be playing musical chairs for this tour;)
I’m trying out something new in the family room. I brought the coffee table in from the living room. A circular table really suits the space better than the rectangular one we had in here, especially with the new sectional from Art Van Furniture!
It’s so big and comfy, guys! Every time a kid sits on it I say, “Are you so comfy??” And they keep saying, “Yes, mom! You already asked us that!” I’m just so happy it feels large enough for my family. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve heard me talk about how the reason we were shopping for a new sectional was because our last one never quite felt big enough. I loved the style of it, but we needed something longer and deeper. Art Van had great selection and the Harper sectional was the best choice for us. Do you love the color? Charcoal can be so tricky! I was worried it would read too brown in here, but it’s perfect!
So let’s chat a sec about the layered tables…
I saw a lot of this look at High Point Market this spring, and really wanted to incorporate it in this space. The coffee table I dragged in from the living room is a little small, so I paired it with an end table we already had. Not sure if it’s a permanent thing (I really love that tulip table in the other room) but it’s a great temporary solution!
I rearranged the other side of the room. Remember the console table against the far back wall? Since this sectional is a little longer than our old one, it juts out a little farther and we’re staring at more of the back of the couch from the kitchen. So I hung a painting there and decided to turn the console table around and have it pushed against the couch, so you can see all of the beautiful vintage books from the kitchen,
I love this frame I found at Home Goods…
I purposely got this style because it was open on both sides. I taped two family photos together and slid it in, so you can see it on either side. That way if you’re sitting on the couch, you aren’t looking at the back of a frame. Does that make sense?
Do you spot my new vintage art on the fireplace? I love it!
Another thing I did in here was move this bench by the back staircase, and hang some art. Don’t be afraid to hang art low! I like that it’s a little unexpected…
I’m still shopping for a new rug for this space, but it’s coming together nicely!
A current look into our dining room…
That about wraps up the tour! I hope you gathered some inspiration! Nothing necessarily screams “summer” in this tour, but I feel like with each new season, even just a little rearranging and some fresh flowers do the trick! Please check back or subscribe to my blog on the home page! I’ve got a fabulous new green velvet sofa in our home office that I can’t wait to show you, and the foyer reveal is on the way!
