Hi, all! So glad you’re here! If you’re visitng from Follow the Yellow Brick Home, welcome!! I love being a part of this blog hop hosted by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. Such a fabulous group of bloggers and lots of inspiration! If you’re new here, my name’s Haneen. I’m a mom of four using my art degree around the house! I love color, and I love a good mix of old and new!
Today, I’m sharing a few summer touches in my family room, kitchen, and dining room.
I recently gave my fireplace a complete makeover for the FrogTape Paintover Challenge and WON! Still can’t believe it! You can see the Before & After tranformation HERE. Now that we’re transitioning to summer, I’m bringing some life into this space with a pop of citrus and some greenery! I love the saturated color and gorgeous texture of this pillow…
If there’s one thing I can’t stress enough when turning your house into a home, it’s to find ways to personalize it and make it uniquely yours. Every room should tell a story and be filled with things that you love. Pay attention to little details that will make you happy. People often ask me if I look at the titles of books when I’m out thrifting, since I have so many green books in my collection. Typically I don’t for my green ones, because I’m using them for color blocking, but when it comes to a few on the coffee table, I was so excited to score this Rolling Stones one and layer it with the Music book we already had (not thrifted, find it HERE. Heads up- it has a large image of Ozzy Osborne on the cover- I just removed the paper cover because I loved the simplicity of the black and white!) Anyway, my point is- I bought these because we’re a house full of music lovers. They speak to who we are as a family. Small little thing, but it’s important to add things with meaning because those are the details that make your house a home.
I spy a new little piece in the lower left corner of the gallery wall. I borrowed a lot from around the house in order to stay under budget for the FrogTape Paintover Challenge, so it was time to start putting things back where they belong and find replacements! I found that cute little abstract from At Home. You can find the tutorial for the larger DIY abstract piece HERE. The green books are looking a little scarce down below because I borrowed some to put in my kitchen. (scroll down a bit and you’ll see)
Fresh flowers are always the easiest way to freshen up a space. These pharmacy online us were leftover from my Summer tablescape earlier this week. Here are my favorite photos from that post- you can read about it HERE.
Now that we’re in the kitchen, I’ll show you a few changes in here. If you missed the big One Room Challenge reveal, you can see the Before & Afters HERE. It was a HUGE transformation. I’m thrilled with the results, but I’m still tweaking things a bit. For starters, these chairs were in here…
They’re gorgeous, but they felt a bit fussy for a kitchen, so I moved them to the dining room and brought the dining room chairs in here. I love the new chairs in the dining room (scroll down a bit to see) but the dining room chairs in here are just temporary. Don’t love the wood on the chairs with the wood of the table, but it’s a good temporary fix. Also, I brought in our green porch rug and I’m liking the pop of color. It’s a big large for the space, but again, temporary solutions! This is a fun way to change things seasonally! Just do some rearranging with things you already have!
Our kitchen was recently featured on Apartment Therapy (yay!) and some people lost their minds over art above the range. Everyone needs to take a deep breath! Lol. I don’t cook often, and when I do, I take it down. Also, it’s in a glass frame! Nothing a little Windex can’t handle now and then:)
People have asked where I keep all of Gibson’s “stuff.” Just thought I’d show you this little corner we have set up for him. The food container and dog bowls are from Home Goods. And we keep all of his toys in that polka dot basket (also from Home Goods).
Here are the chairs in the dining room…
I spy a fluffy dog. That has quickly become his favorite corner…
Shop my home…
