When I think of the holiday season, I think of entertaining, and I love to create beautiful tablescapes! I fully admit to being NO Martha Stewart in the kitchen. I may not be great at cooking, but I can definitely set a “mood” with my decor. We all have our strengths, right? You bring the food, I’ll make it look good! Deal?
I wasn’t exactly sure which direction I wanted to take my dining room this year. The colors in there are very autumnal, so I tend to lean towards gold holiday decor in this room. But after finishing my winter mantel, I really was inspired to add some white and continue the “winter” scene. One huge trend this season is decorating with fur. I love it so much, and I was blown away when I saw a white, fur table runner. The price tag was a little steep for me though at $100, so I headed to Joann Fabrics and found some on sale for $16.99 a yard! I measured the length of my table and only ordered half of what I needed because the fabric was so wide I knew I’d cut it in half to extend it. I covered the seam with my centerpiece. I love layering, so I put the runner on top of gold polka dotted wrapping paper I found at Hobby Lobby. Perfect starting point! I hit At Home, which was great for the gold accents- they have aisles of Christmas decor! I found beautiful gold deer and white textured ornaments that have the look of snowballs (the same ones I used on my fireplace). The showstopper for me though, is the beautiful centerpiece I found at Kirklands. They just opened one near my house so I couldn’t resist stopping in. I’m so glad I did because I found the piece that really makes the table for me.
This wooden crate centerpiece came with the bottles that go in it. The box had it displayed with a single flower in each bottle, but I knew immediately I’d put taper candles in them. I had to shave down the bottom of each candle because they were a little tough to stuff in there, but it didn’t take much to work them in once I did that.
These sweet trees from Hobby Lobby are a nice touch…
In the past, I’ve hung ornaments from these branches. I can’t decide if I was feeling lazy or just didn’t want to over-do it. I’ll go with the latter;)
The final step was the addition of the table settings. I found gold chargers from the dollar store, and these cute polka dotted tags from Target that were just meant for this table! I decided I’d use them as place cards.
Thanks so much for visiting! I wish I could have all of you over for a holiday brunch or cocktail party! I need an excuse to use this pretty setting! I hope you like it as much as I do!
