It’s Summer Home Tour time! Thank you so much to Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for hosting! Excited to show you what I’ve done to the back porch, along with a few refreshes inside:) If you’re coming from Pam’s blog Simple Details, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! There’s tons of inspiration to be found in the list of bloggers on this tour- find it at the bottom of this post! Let’s get to the pix, shall we?

So, a few things about the back porch. First, I gotta say, adding outdoor drapes has such an impact on the vibe! I love the bold stripe. Definitely gives it the feel of a cabana. Those are DIY no-sew drapes I made a few days ago. Super easy! Also, I’ve always been torn on hanging any art of sorts, because the view is lovely on its own and I certainly didn’t want to cover it up. But the scale of this painting is small enough not obstruct the view, and I liked the palmy leaves that coordinated with the pillows. The pillows and the art are both from Home Goods! And so is the concrete geometric round side table and fun green cooler! I don’t know why we didn’t snatch one of these up years ago! We love to entertain and I never loved the look of filling up a random big tub with ice. This is way cuter!
One other small DIY was changing up the look of the small black/gold planter. I found it at Hobby Lobby as faux concrete and gold, but the color of the “concrete” clashed a bit with the color of the end table it’s sitting on, so I painted that part black instead. I love it! Brings out the black from the drapes on the other side of the space.
Speaking of black, I gotta say, my first choice chairs were black with grey cushions. But they were out of stock when I was shopping/prepping for this space. I’m thinking now that they’re back in stock, I may return the ones in these pix?? Haven’t decided. I love the shape of them, but the black of the other chairs is what was working for me. And the grey cushions are way more practical than these cream ones. Although the fact that my sectional cushions are brown is throwing things off a bit. Doesn’t feel right with black, or grey for that matter, but I’m thinking I may recover them? Hmmmmm. We’ll see! Also, the chairs I have here came with a table. I’m really not a fan of “sets,” so that’s why I separated the table from the chairs and used it next to the sectional instead. Spaces are way more interesting when you mix things up a bit!

Ok, here’s a few quick pix of a family room refresh! Brought in black, velvet drapes, recovered the bench (for the 100th time!) and found a new faceted mirror for the mantel.

Added some fresh peonies to the living room, and these new pillows…

And one last little newbie… I found this adorable green velvet chair at a thrift shop for $30! It was like it was sitting there literally saying to me, “You know the green vintage books and suitcases are begging for company. Buy me! Buy me!”
