One Room Challenge: Week 2

It’s week two of the One Room Challenge! If you missed the intro with all of the before pix of my laundry room, you can get caught up by clicking HERE. Thought I’d chat about the mood board I showed you last week and fill you in on what’s being used where.

The brick you see there is wallpaper (from Milford & King), and I plan on using that on the wall that is inset (behind the baskets)…

That gorgeous floral print on the mood board is the fabric I’ll be using to make window treatments.  Have you all heard of Spoonflower? It’s an amazing online resource for wallpaper and fabric. SO. MANY. OPTIONS! The one you see in the photo above is actually a DIY no-sew roman shade I made. I might do the same and I’ll be sure to post a tutorial. There’s no room to do drapes because of where the dryer is located, and we back to woods so no real need for privacy in here:)

Let’s talk about paint! Yes, I LOVE color, but no, I will not be painting the whole laundry room that green:) That, my friends, is for the ceiling! Thinking the rest of the walls will be a light, neutral gray. Haven’t decided yet. Also, I’m tempted to paint the door to the linen closet the same color.

You may think no one will really see it because the entry door will cover it once it’s opened, but we’re getting a sliding barn door from Rustica Hardware! Wahoooo! So excited about this. Can you tell?;) This will be such a space saver, and will also prevent banging into the linen closet.  So anyway, I thought doing something to the linen closet door might be a fun little project. We’ll see. I’ve had this image (from Megan Pflug) pinned for forever, so maybe I’ll get a little crazy?

Isn’t that awesome? Reminds me of the pulls I found from World Market…

I think those pulls will look awesome on the cabinets! Have we talked about cabinets yet? I realize our cherry cabinets are technically “nice,” but I’ve decided to paint them! I think a deep, rich navy is the way to go. I LOVE blue with gold accents, so these little wood/brass/marble pulls will just sing against that color.

The light from Lex Mod arrived!

I’ve been majorly drawn to geometric shapes these days. That’s why I was also coveting this modern shelving unit from Urban Outfitters.  They displayed several together on the site like this and I fell in love…

I’m thinking I want to do a configuration similar to this but horizontally on the “brick” wall. Maybe it can display cute laundry supplies and curiosities?

No officially work has started! Week two has consisted of narrowing down choices, making final decisions, and ordering stuff! It’s been like Christmas on my doorstep watching things arrive! Now it’s time to get down and dirty! Lots to do in this space! Starting with clearing it out. Tune in next week for an update!
