Hi, everyone! I get lots of questions regarding where I shop for stencils! Figured I’d post a link to each of the stencils I’ve used. All of them are from Royal Design Studio, with the exception of the one in my foyer, which is from Cutting Edge Stencils. I fell in love with wall stencils a few years ago. When I tried it for the first time, I was hooked! I honestly think using these stencils catapulted my passion for interior design. What an awesome way to add interest and pattern to a room without the commitment of wallpaper! It’s easier than you may think. I never took a video when I did any of these rooms, but I will give you a few tips:
1. Level! Level! Level! When you’re using a stencil, nothing is more important than making sure it’s level every time you move it along the wall. Have a level handy!
2. Less is more! It’s super important to roll off excess paint before applying pressure to the stencil. If you have too much paint on your roller, it can seep underneath the stencil, leaving “blobs” you need to touch up later.
3. When choosing colors, keep the pattern you’re using in mind. For the most part, I think all stencils work best using tone on tone. (Meaning two slightly different shades of the same color). But it’s ok to make exceptions for fun rooms like a playroom or child’s room. The polka dot stencil and lace stencil below are good examples of that.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Hugs,
Haneen
