It’s week one of the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda from Calling It Home and media partner Better Homes & Gardens! Friends, I’m a featured designer!! Along with these amazingly talented people…
Let’s take a minute and explain the fun twist. The One Room Challenge has teamed up with High Point Market, which is just brilliant! If you didn’t know, High Point Market is the largest furnishings trade show in the world. It’s like fashion week for interiors! A serious load of eye candy in all the top furniture and home decor trends. 10 million square feet of eye candy, to be exact! Crazy cool!
So, here’s the thing. The whole point of this special version of the ORC is to show you the behind the scenes of everything that actually happens from start to finish in design planning, and why working with a designer and having access to products at HPMKT is such an integral part of making a vision come to life. I’m excited to take you on this journey with me!
If you’re new here, I have an art degree that led me on a path to pursuing interior design, and it’s what I’ve been doing for the past five years. I love it. I’ve been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, HGTV, Hour Detroit, Detroit News, and online on Apartment Therapy, House Beautiful, and Domino. Crazy how this mom of four once struggled with what to do with all her creative energy while raising kids. Blogging about my house has been my saving grace.
Let’s get to the plans!!! The interesting thing about this ORC, is that it’s virtual! The plans I’m about to show you are for a “made up” room that isn’t actually being made over. However, I decided to have a little fun and “makeover” our family room! As the weeks progress, I’ll take you along the journey of a makeover from start to finish, but the final reveal will actually be 3D renderings. This is going to be so interesting!
I’m loving the feel of this! Perhaps I’m inspired by the time of year, but these autumnal colors are creating the feeling of a safe haven. It feels comfortable, yet fashionable. Cozy, yet edgy. Honestly? It feels like home! Come back next week where I’ll break this all down for you and show you the floor plan! I’ll zero in on it all in the coming weeks… textiles, lighting, accessories, furniture… it’s ALL from vendors at High Point Market!
In the meantime, visit the list of featured designers below and see what they’ve got up their sleeves!
