Friends! I feel like we got a new house! That’s my super dramatic way of saying WE GOT NEW CARPET INSTALLED, and it’s so fresh and clean and everything I’ve been wanting! Thrilled to partner with Home Depot again for this. We moved into our home in 2009 and I’ve wanted new carpet since then. I didn’t love the idea of carpet that’s been used by someone else, and add to that that it’s been 11 years and we’ve had four kids and a dog living here, and I was getting desperate.
It was dirty. And it was builder-grade light cream in color. Just wasn’t working for our family! Home Depot is my go-to source for flooring (just installed fabulous Home Depot tile in my sister’s kitchen!) Their selection does not disappoint! I knew I wanted something slightly darker in color than what we had, and also a subtle pattern to hide even more.
I was immediately drawn to the Lifeproof line. Here were some key elements that sold me:
- Lifetime pet stain warranty; limited lifetime stain and soil warranty; 25-year wear and tear warranty
- Protected by R2X stain and soil resistance system
- Manufactured from continuous fibers to minimize shedding
Sounded good to me! I was able to take some samples home with me, which I highly recommend so you can really test the color in different rooms with natural lighting. For me, it helped to place them on my stairs…
This helped me narrow down the pattern I wanted, and more importantly, the color. I thought I was leaning towards something grey, but once I brought it home it read a bit too silvery, and I wanted something warmer. The color Stonewash was a perfect greige color, and we went with the Aura pattern.

Cleaning up edges with Frog Tape®…
So, one thing I quickly noticed when the carpet went in, is that the new carpet was a lower pile than the old carpet. I painted our staircase last year, and once the carpet was replaced, the old stain was exposed…
Frog Tape® to the rescue! I taped up all the edges and got to work cleaning everything up…
Quick tip: use a drywall knife to hold back the carpet while you paint in the crevices! Wish I would’ve done this before! Then maybe the paint would’ve gone down deep enough to give better coverage.
We carried the carpet into all of the bedrooms! So happy to share our bedroom update with you! Along with new carpet, we got a new bed from Universal Furniture! It’s a showstopper! (And the bed I used in the Detroit Show House).
We really love our new duvet set from Boll & Branch. It’s so comfortable and I love the embroidered details on the edge! They have a great selection of organic sheet set options. I wanted to mix crisp whites with some warm creams, so I paired it with this velvet quilt. Looks and feels like a chic hotel!
I’m so pleased with our carpet choice! It’s incredibly comfortable! When it was first installed, the second we walked up the steps, we were all commenting on how it felt like walking on cushions. The padding is perfect! And “Life Proof” hast already been tested because my 11 year old got paint on the carpet in her bedroom while making gifts on Christmas Eve. I may or may not have cried like a crazy person, but you guys- IT CAME OUT! I’m sold, friends. Please let me know if you have any questions!

This is gorgeous! Our closet and Part of our bedroom flooded after a pipe burst last week during the winter storms here in Texas and now we need to replace our carpet. How does the texture of this carpet feel to you after having it for a while now? I want comfy AND beautiful.
