Well, friends, this was almost two years in the making! The kitchen we made over for the Spring 2018 One Room Challenge has sat without a backsplash because I decided to take my sweet old time picking one out! You can see the initial reveal (and see photos of how our kitchen used to look) HERE, and talk about how I finally made a decision on tile HERE.
Look at this gorgeousness from Home Depot!!!

Yes, friends, Home Depot has a fabulous selection of things beyond builder basics! Look online! I’ve partnered with Home Depot for many projects and felt confident that I would find something scrolling through the site. Let me just tell you… I’ve looked everywhere. I did my research. I went to high end local stores and plenty of sites online. And what I loved best I found at Home Depot. Couldn’t be more thankful that they are sponsoring this post!

This is the Oracle Blanco Hexagon tile by Ivy Hill and I love the elongated three dimentional hex. It’s modern and fresh and has brought total life to this kitchen! But let me show you a view with something different I added…

Oh. Em. Gee! You guys, this touch of brick has added such a layer of warmth and rustic industrial texture, and that’s exactly the kind of balance I wanted. A fun, fresh perimeter tile, and warm, rustic brick on the island. Holy cow are my eyeballs happy! I love a good mix, and this mix is goooooood. And let’s face it: my kids were beating the crap out of that painted island with their feet, so I’m happy on a practical level too. We’ll get to the new bar stools in a sec;)

Spot something else new? Our fridge, guys!! Our old one leaked! Such a big bummer, but I’ve actually had my eye on this Cafe fridge for a while. Love the sleek look of it since the water dispenser is actually inside! So cool!

Stay tuned though- I’m actually going to order the handles in gold to match my cabinet hardware. Super excited for this! Nothing wrong with mixing metals, but the gold handles on the black fridge is GORGEOUS. Love that you can customize this fridge like that!
So, let me just touch base about a couple of extra details you may be interested in, should you go with this tile yourself. First of all, the “pencil” tile (or bullnose) that we outlined the backsplash with is Ivy Hill Moze Ceramic Pencil Liner in White.

Let’s talk grout…
Second of all, after posting a sneak peek on Instagram, I got a lot of questions about the grout. I HEAR YOU. Grout was mega intimidating to choose! Initially I thought I’d go with a light gray. I brought home two choices, guys. Lol. I really needed to take a minute to see it. The gray I brought home is called Platinum, by Prism. It seemed like it might look a little silver, but more importantly, I started thinking that while I LOVE the tile pattern and the three demensional quality of it, that maybe both of those things could speak for themselves without a contrasting grout color. So I went with white. That’s the other box I brought home (called Snow White). In the store, I thought “Bright White” leaned a little on the warmer side, and I was so paranoid about a white that would end up looking yellow. Snow White is perfect in here. I’d still suggest comparing notes- every tile is different and every white is different, but I wanted to share what I used in case it’s helpful.

Side note: if you’re wondering how I hung the painting back over my stove now that the tile is in… I used Velco Command hooks! You can find them HERE. Whether you’re on team “art above the stove” or not, you better believe I was going to find a way to get that sucker back up there! These totally did the trick.

Ok, quick word on the new bar stools! Guys, I’ve been on the hunt for two years. The ones we had were an inexpensive fix for our initial reveal. They were fine, but I’ve always wanted to use bar stools as a place to bring in a pop of color. And of course I went with green. Lol. I was initially drawn to this beauty…

Loved the brass element. Thought that touch of glam would be a great juxtaposition to the industrial brick. But in the end, we decided a bar stool with arms might be annoying to get in and out of. Maybe that’s silly, but it was a big enough deal to us, along with the fact that the brass is polished, and all the other gold in the kitchen is brushed, so, the arms were just the tipping point. Lol.

I just ended up being drawn to the maculine vibe of the tufted leather on this one. And they swivel, so the kids are gonna get a kick out of these:)

I think that’s about it, friends! Did I miss anything? Have any questions? Leave them in the comment section below! I’d love to hear from you! In the mean time, just know that this tile is on SALE! It’s all part of Home Depot’s flooring campaign going on right now. Big flooring sale happening- go check it out!

Cheers to beautifying our homes. These finishing touches make a world of difference!
Absolutely perfect! I love the barstools, the fruit art, the green glass, the brick and especially the backsplash. It is really a timeless pattern. I’m Team Art! I have a painted Tole tray behind mine. It was already a little worn and rusty so I’m not worried about it getting dirty. It actually has been in the same spot in the last 3 houses we have lived in. 💚💚💚
Love hearing that!! I bet it looks fabulous! Thank you for visiting!
Absolutely stunning! I love how you pulled together all of the different textures and pieces and made it all work just perfectly! My eyeballs would be happy too! And the best part is it is soooo you. You must be THRILLED! 💚💚💚
