Keeping it real…the truth behind the pix

Glamorous. Sophisticated. Swoon-worthy…. All words I’ve been told describe our bedroom. I love hearing it because it’s exactly what I was going for. With four kids, things get a little hectic around here. So I wanted our respite to feel like a chic hotel at the end of the day; as if we’re somewhere far, FAR away! Here’s the thing though, we’re NOT. And neither is the “stuff” that kids bring into our world. Let me explain…

Our bedroom is big. Silly big. It has a large sitting room area that is a complete waste of square footage because it’s not being utalized as such currently. Wanna know what’s there? …

I can’t help but laugh looking at that. It’s so easy to get caught up in the perfection you see in tiny Instagram squares! You can be certain I’ll be keeping it real on this blog. Don’t get me wrong, I love the perfect photos. It puts me in la la land mode and let’s me escape my reality. The reality of the mess BEHIND the photos. Comparison is the theif of joy. When you start to rival the perfection you see online, just revisit this ridiculous photo that I can’t xanax online cheap no prescription believe I just shared. Here’s the story though- my 9 and 5 year old share a bedroom (see their room under Home Tour). I’m really struggling with the organization of their closet. So much so that I’ve gotten an estimate for turning this sitting room into a 5th bedroom. Until that can move up on our list of priorities, I’ve become so desparate that before school started I ran out and bought two rolling racks and moved all of my 5 year old’s clothes (and toys) into this space. I gotta say, as crazy as it may seem to turn the corner of my beautiful bedroom and see the explosion of PINK, it’s working for now! She loves having her own space and I love their closet a little less crowded. Sure, it isn’t ideal, but your home can be whatever you want it to be. YOU own the square footage- make use however you see fit. I look forward to one day sharing the process of designing this 5th bedroom, but until then, I’m working with what I have. Just be sure to know when I DO share the renovation, there will be some sort of mess behind the camera.
